The Mystery of Honoring God

Reading through the book of Daniel chapter 1, I saw that Daniel dared to stand out from others. Not only did he purposed in his heart but also showed it in his action. You cannot serve God and remain like others, you cannot sacrifice your time and all for God and get the same results as others who do not even believe in God. Daniel served the living God and God honored him and he was fairer than other children.

You get many benefits when you honor God with your body, life, dressing, career, and daily lifestyle. Since the bible says your body is the temple of God, this means that anything that will defile your body should be avoided. Keep away from drawings and piercings that do not glorify God. Also, alcohol and smoking should be avoided because it destroys the immune system inside your body that God called His temple. Your daily life should honor God, what you say, and your actions should glorify God.

In Daniel 2:19, Daniel desired God to know the secret behind the king's dream and God shew him the secret. Why did God show Daniel? He listened and heard Daniel's request. He honored him because Daniel purposed in his heart when he got to Babylon not to defile his body with the king's wine. The bible says in 1 Samuel 2:30 that "...be it far from me, for them that honor me I will honor and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed".

The way you dress should honor God, purpose in your heart to be like Daniel. Dress decently, provocative dressing does not glorify God and should therefore be distant from us as children of the  TrueVine. The term "dress to kill" should not even be found in our vocabulary as bonafide children of God.

Lastly, your career should glorify God. Stand for the Lord even in your business. Do not indulge in promoting things you preach against as a Christian.

There is still time to make amends, ask God for mercy today, and tell him to help you live a life that honors God.

May God bless you as you make this decision.

"Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be afraid because of them; for the lord your God goes with you, he will never leave you nor forsake you”
